What It Is

The Granduca is a restaurant-pizzeria housed in a restored 15th-century villa along Corso Umberto. Its strong point is the panoramic terrace at the back, looking out over the hillside and the sea with a view as far as the Greek Theatre. Elegant interior rooms with frescoed ceilings.

The cooking is Sicilian: fresh fish, traditional pasta (Norma, with sardines), wood-fired pizza, meat. The menu is broad, designed to suit different tastes. The wine list offers Sicilian labels.

Why Go

  • Terrace: the view from the terrace is lovely — sea, hillside, a glimpse of the Theatre. Dining there in summer is a pleasure
  • Historic palazzo: the interior rooms have character, with stone arches and frescoed ceilings. It's not an anonymous restaurant
  • Central location: right on the Corso, handy after a stroll
  • Options for everyone: from inexpensive pizza to grilled fish, a menu suited to families and couples
